Mike Brunner

Mike grew up working in his father’s tiling business before attending Victoria University. Graduating with a BCA, Mike gained entry as a Chartered Accountant whilst working his way up to senior roles in the Inland Revenue. Mike joined Deloitte’s Wellington Corporate Tax Division in around 1998 where he developed its indirect tax practice around GST consulting, due diligence and compliance strategy/review/improvement/training. Around 2005, following a brief time running his own professional practice – during which time he obtained his Certificate of Public Practice – Mike joined a boutique tax advisory firm where he advised central and local government agencies across NZ – from Christchurch to Kaitaia. Areas of advice included business and investment structuring, collaborative organisations, public private partnerships and joint ventures, tax compliance and tax opportunities.
From shoe store chains to luggage importers, whiteware distributors, engineering and large insurance companies), to insurance companies, electricity retailers; professional IT services providers (IBM), Shell Todd Oil Services, central government departments and wider government agencies – Mike has vast experience working with all of them.
In August 2011 Mike joined Crowe Horwath bringing his wealth of experience to assist clients ranging from over 2,000 staff and contractors, to others with 5 to 20 people.
